Friendship (RIP)

After having lost sight of each other for several years, I found again a few years ago, someone whom I considered to be a very good friend. We had gone through many more or less difficult and similar situations life throws at one,  before life, geography and a life without internet, skype or facebook separated us. After a hiatus  fifteen years or so, we reconnected with a lot of pleasure (I thought). We shared our journeys, future projects,  and promised to  stay in touch. I was doing my best to visit my friend when I  was in the same corner of the world (which was not very often, but still),  sent messages, which received answers. Over time, however, the answers shortened, then,  time did not suit, when I wanted to visit him, so  I abandoned my attempts to meet. I am still following this friend from a distance, who is very busy  building   a fortress likened to  a little paradise, but with all the entrances caulked, one after the other, to leave less in less air going in, people entering, life going on. RIP friendship

  1. Ah, this is so sad, but sometimes happens inexplicably and sometimes goes back to the reason one never stayed in touch in the first place. That photograph is the loveliest shade of blue.

    1. Yes, moving on is important, sometimes a little sad, but there is no point in insisting on it too much, I suppose (I try to learn to travel light, in all senses of the word).

  2. A beautiful image, with thought-provoking words. Yes, it is bittersweet to “move on” from human relationships. I feel it happens to most of us. Thank you for sharing.
