I am sure it does not compare with the scale of the Californian fires but it is considered as the biggest in NZ history (although it does not say a lot either) . 3000 people were evacuated and came back but have to be ready to go at short notice. I still can hear the helicopters, could see the smoke from Nelson at some point, but so far so good here.

I knew that sun looked familiar…Are you near the fires? There were some similar alarming pictures from the fires in California.
