I try often and miss, most of the times. I have to confess that I got a new lens in the hope I will be able to catch birds from a distance. My dream is to post a photo of a fantail, an indigenous bird of New Zealand. They are just gorgeous (but very difficult to catch). Generally speaking, NZ birds are slightly less shy than birds elsewhere, because there are fewer predators. When I go to a remote village, I notice that birds do not pay attention to me. So hopefully, one day, me and my new lens will achieve that goal.

I love that you catch the fleeing bird while out on your walk. I am never ready. The streak of light in the bird is stunning.

Good luck. Learning a new camera or a new lens takes some time and practice. I never seem to freeze the motion with birds.
