A point of reference,
A faintness,
A dizziness midway.
Where is the border ?
Stopping briefly on the hill
A transparent roof in the horizon.
An austere, hostile beauty.
Going beyond. Beyond.
I love those Inuit carvings and some of the paintings as well. I first saw some of Norval Morisseau’s work in the 1980’s and thought it astonishing in color and form. Your Haiku brings forth the images of myth and journey really well. I could see the narrator stopping to look into the distance…
They say they carve to express what words cannot say. It is pretentious, I suppose to try and put words on the feelings they create when one sees them, but journey ( such a great English word)is one of the feelings.
