Archives par mot-clé : if I were

#4153 If I had… a god

photo: Pohara, Golden Bay

If I had a god

it would be the sun…

I would thank him in the morning

for  my hands warming

I would pray  him in the evening

to return the the following morning

I would worry about his absence

and would ask him to come back

but not to burn my daily bread

I would write poems to praise him

while warming myself under his rays

#4142 if I were… a church

photo: Lake Tekapo, a small stone building near the lake of the same name, which derives its unique colour from stones coming from glaciers that have carpeted its bed. Onne can see Mount Cook (when the weather is fine), the highest mountain in NZ (3,724 metres) in the South Island.

If I were a church

I would be small and made of stone

I would have a single window

opening on  a lake so beautiful

that passers-by would stop

to say a  prayer

that  would resemble dreaming

hovering over the blue waters
