#3047 poetry

photo: heron, Marahau, windy gardens, Abel Tasman, national park

We will watch

in the clear water

the cloudy reflection of ourselves

which, surprisingly, will have not changed

although we had hoped that

the passage of time

would have transformed us

but we measured ourselves up

against our wounds

and we will resume hobbling

one step forward, two steps back
