#4137 poetry

photo : Marahau, the view of the sea frees up space in the mind and makes up room for words.

In the embrace of winter, the dark mirror of the sea reflects the cold. The once-galloping waves whisper silence to the frozen shore. The lost stories of the ships stranded at the bottom of the black water evaporate in the early morning above the water that sighs its serenity

#3023 silly season in the antipodes*

Tourists will converge on Nelson from December 26th and Tahunanui (Tahuna) Beach will be overrun with those wanting (rightly) to take advantage of the good weather. It goes against my need for solitude when I go to the beach but, I just have to go a little further and, suddenly, I am no longer in Nelson, but in a wild place, full of native bush. By the time I have crossed this little path I am in another world, and I can watch the crowds on the beach from afar, enjoying the good weather.
